Tempting Plate of Sandwiches Make Good Hot Day Luncheon in 1920

When the days are overwhelmingly hot why not try a tempting plate of sandwiches to satisfy the family? Here is an All-Syracuse menu which combines a variety of fillings and dessert that is bound to please:

Sliced Tomato Sandwich

Slice tomatoes thin and then cut round slices of bread and place tomatoes between with a dash of mayonnaise.

Hard Boiled Egg Sandwich

Mix the whites of hard boiled eggs and sliced cucumbers.

Cream Cheese Sandwich

Mix cream cheese, olives, nuts and dash of onion together. Ice tea.

Date Bars

  • 8 tablespoons of flour
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1 cup nuts
  • 1 package dates
  • 3 eggs

Mix yolks of eggs and dates together. Add flour and baking powder and then nuts. Beat whites of eggs stiffly and fold in. Bake in moderate oven for 20 minutes. Cut in long, thin slices.
