Boiled Apple Pudding in 1920

Philadelphia Evening Public Ledger, Philadelphia June 21, 1920, page 10

Place in a mixing bowl:

  • 2 cups applesauce
  • 1 cup fine bread crumbs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup sugar (or three-quarters cup syrup)
  • 1/2 cup shortening

Beat to mix thoroughly and the turn into well greased mold and boil for one and one-half hours. Serve with cream or custard sauce.
